Sexuality

At first time, it was so hard to deal about sexuality to me. Because of in my country, Korea, it is not common thing that talk about sexuality in class not privately. It was first time that talking about sexuality in the class. While discussing, I absolutely feel that even though Japan and Korea have similar culture, there are so many differences about view point of sexuality. In Japan, Sexuality is not shy thing. People can meet goods related in sexuality easily in daily life. Even some T.V programs are so erotic to see young people. It is definitely different with Korea. The U.S also is opened about sexuality like Japan. People talk about sexuality commonly and they don’t feel shy. It is culture shock to me. And first experience of sex is so fast both Japan and the U.S. Average that first experience of sex is 16years. It is so fast in Korea.
These days, people can find informations about sex easily in internet or by other methods. Especially, young people have to classify about wrong information. And I think it is required in this age for correct knowledge of sexuality.

Friendship

I think there is no difference about friendship among the U.S and Japan and Korea.
Teen make group by their own hobby or what they are interseted in. They hang out together and sometimes they are broken because of some troubles in their group.
In my case, i also hang out with my best friends. We are four and we always played together.
Because of our hobbies and matters of concern are simiilar, we get along together without big trouubles. We talk our privacy things and counsel too. Now i'm alone in Japan so it is hard to meet with my friends even though i can contact on the internet. it is diffrent real meeting to cyberspace meeting tho. In japan, like my case, i saw that Japanese also hang out their friends with their hobby or same goals. But i feel that Japanese is more careful in friend realtionship. i think they dont want to talk their privacy things.

Materialism

Materialism is one of the hot issue in teenager. I'm also intersted in fashoin and new trend.
First of all, there are some diffrences between Japan and the U.S about youth market.
In japan, most of company target of their goods to some group. It is called as unifocal advertisement. but the U.S is different. Company advertise to various area called broader advertisement.
Second, japanese kids get money from parents and grandparents. But most of the mothers have to work part time job to afford their kids' luxury.
Age doesn't mean much in the states. Everyone has different expectation of their lives. Some get married when they're 19 and some don't have kids until they are 40. But they focus on uniformality as well.
Finally, Japanese kids rely on magazines and manga for new trends. The magazines teach japanese kids how to dress what's new etc. Kids also learn about sex on the magazine where being confident about their sexuality is more stressed than the protection and morality. Japanese kids also read about their favorite idols on magazines. American pop industry doesn't categorize their audience by the age.
and In korea, materialism is similar with Japan. I also have learnd and heard about fashion or sexual thing from magazine or friends.

Essay about School

School is the important institution for education. We spend a lot of time for studying at school.
Education of each country is quite different and there are so many differences between Japan and the U.S too.
First of all, relationships between junior and senior are different. In Japan, students have strict relationships. Junior always has to say with honorific words and be polite to senior. In Korea, I also had strict relationships with my senior. I always bow to my senior when I meet them. It is common thing in my school. And students who don't follow the relationships were beaten from senior sometimes. It was kind of tradition. However in the U.S, they have flexible relationships between junior and senior. Even though they have some kinds of bullies among students but don’t have strict relationships.
Second, the way of preparing university in Japan and the U.S is very different. In Japan, they prepare for entering university since junior high school. Some of students go to private academic school for more specific study than in school and are given teaching from tutor. They compete very hard. So if they couldn't achieve their goal, they study again and again. In contrast, the U.S is different for entering university. Some people think that university is not best way for my life so they don’t go to university. It is just up to students themselves whether go to university or not.
Finally, life in school is quite different. Most of students in the U.S have a car. They go to school with car but most of Japanese students use bicycle or train (called as densya). Also, In the U.S,
They have graduation party called as prom. But there is no party in Japan.
Differences of Japan and the U.S were interested to me. It was surprised to me especially that students in the U.S go to school with a car. It can not be happened in Korea. Korea is same as Japan over all. If I have a chance, I want to be a student in the U.S

Family

In the class and through the textbook, I can learn a lot about Family of U.S and Japan. It is kind of culture shock to me.
First of all, in U.S, they have good relationship with their parents. The books said that they are close with their parents like friends and they express their assertions and opinions freely. Also they just have small pressure about going to college. They don’t think that students should enter college for better life. But through the discussion in class, in present U.S, they also have so many pressures about college and some students don’t have good relationships with their parents. Emily who is Colorado Uni. Student says most of her friends and she have had a lot of pressures since high school, and most of parents are very strict about academic works before playing with friends.
And they don’t treat about divorce like shame of their own life. This is common situation in U.S. and I was surprised that even though they divorced, they still have good relationships. It can not be happened in Korea.
Second, because of Japan had influenced Confucianism like Korea and China, they have strict relationships with their parents. They don’t threat their parents as a friend and they can not have a chance talking with their parents well. They have lots of pressure about academic things so they have lots of troubles with their parents since they were young. In recently, rate of divorce is increasing and it can be social problem.
MY country, Korea, is similar with Japan. Going to good college is the best issue in Family. I also had so many pressures since I entered elementary school and still now. Rate of divorce is also increasing and people threat it as a shame. One different thing with U.S, they come and go with their relative regularly when they meet holiday. They often have a meal and trip together.
